Concho Educators Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1941 to serve the financial needs of educators within Tom Green County. Initially, membership was limited to teachers, administrators, and employees of the San Angelo Independent School District. As the benefits of being a member of the credit union became more recognizable, other school districts within the surrounding counties requested membership and were approved by NCUA be a part of the credit union family. The geographical map reflects the local school districts currently served by Concho Educators.
In 1952, the faculty, staff, and administration of Angelo State University were added to Concho Educators’ field of membership, followed by Angelo State University students in 1980. On July 1, 1981, San-Tex Credit Union merged with Concho Educators, allowing employees of the San Angelo State School to become members as well. In March 2006, Concho Educators expanded its field of membership to include anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Tom Green County.
Today, the credit union has grown to more than $100 million in assets and proudly serves over 7,000 member-owners. The credit union’s success since 1941 has been made possible through the collective efforts of its members, Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, management, and staff.
